Steven Gregory Gass is 67 now. He’s been “working” since 1976.
He’s needs to rest. The judge should put him out to pasture.
Gass began robbing banks at age 20 and never quit, though his career was periodically interrupted by let’s call them “extended vacations.”
The most recent of these was from roughly 2010 to 2019. Now, he’s on “sabbatical” again, this time in Maryland; previously, he “worked” in Florida (see story here).
At one time, he was thought to be responsible for nearly 10% of the bank robberies in South Florida. His m.o. was to pass a threatening note to a teller saying he had a gun and “wasn’t joking.”
In 2010, he told a newspaper he did it because it was an easy way to get money to pay his bills and feed his cocaine addiction. When sentenced then, he told the judge he’d made “stupid decisions” and there was “no excuse” for what he’d done. But he apparently didn’t promise to never do it again.
