Mark Ponder, 52, of Washington D.C., a black Trumper who was detained on Jan. 6, 2021, for assaulting cops guarding the Capitol, and after being released resumed attacking cops, was sentenced to 63 months in prison and 3 years of parole by a federal judge on Monday, July 26, 2022 (read story here). That’s fairly typical of the sentences being meted out by judges to violent Capitol rioters.
During the riot Ponder asserted a “right to fight” based on the Second Amendment, and told the FBI agents who later arrested him, “The way this country is going, you [officers] gonna have to pick a side” (see story here), which they did when they took their law enforcement officers’ oaths.
Ponder is lucky to live in America. In countries run by autocrats like the one he was fighting to install here, violent revolutionaries like him usually are executed.
