Tina Peters (photo, left), the freak the stupid voters of Mesa County, Colorado, elected as their county clerk responsible for locally overseeing their elections, but who decisively lost the Republican statewide primary for secretary of state (details here), isn’t only a conspiracy nut and election denier.
She’s also a scofflaw who thinks she’s above the law and brazenly defies court orders. Already arrested for disobeying a judge (see story here), she’s now going to jail for doing it again.
Peters is awaiting trial on a grand jury indictment (7 felonies, 3 misdemeanors), but has been free on bail. Among her release conditions were she needed the court’s permission to travel out of state.
Instead, she went to Las Vegas (to attend an extremist group’s meeting) without a word of notice to the court. In response, the judge revoked her bail and issued a warrant for her arrest. She will now sit in the cooler until her trial.
This (turn on your speakers) is what happens to people who fight the law. Read story here.
Update: The judge has reinstated Peters’ bail with a warning, after her lawyer alleged she wasn’t notified of the travel ban, see story here.
