Both poles are recording record-high temperatures. Scientists say they’ve “never seen anything like this,” and warn that while “a heat wave at one pole may be regarded as a warning, heat waves at both poles at once start to look a lot like climate catastrophe.
But there’s more to it than hot weather: Droughts, floods, and violent storms are part of the unfolding climate disaster. It will get worse, and probably is unstoppable, because we’re not doing nearly enough to stop it.
This isn’t some vague threat of what might happen in the distant future; it’s already here, right now. Scientists tried to warn the deniers, but they wouldn’t listen; now all scientists can say is, “We told you so.”
