Eric Greitens (photo, left; profile here), a former governor of Missouri who was forced to resign in disgrace, is trying for a comeback in the 2022 Missouri GOP Senate primary.
It doesn’t help that he’s an accused wife-beater, too, and also allegedly smacked the kids around, too (read story here).
Greitens is running to replace Sen. Roy Blount (R-MO), who is retiring.
Missouri’s other senator, Josh Hawley, is among Republicans calling for Greitens to drop out of the race. He tweeted, “If you hit a woman or a child, you belong in handcuffs, not the United States Senate.”
You could say that about someone who fist-pumps insurrectionists violently attacking the U.S. Capitol to overthrow an election, too.
