Trump says if he runs in 2024, Mike Pence won’t be his running mate (see story here).
“I don’t think the people would accept it,” Trump said. “Mike and I had a great relationship except for the very important factor that took place at the end.”
What “people” is he talking about? Those who chanted “Hang Mike Pence!” and built a gallows outside the Capitol?
The crazy QAnon-embracing Trumpsters who believe Hillary Clinton is running a child sex-trafficking ring in the basement of a pizza parlor that doesn’t have a basement, or are waiting in the rain for John F. Kennedy Jr. to reappear from the dead at Dealey Plaza in Dallas? Who gives a damn about them?
Keep in mind the American people didn’t choose Trump and Pence in 2016, they got into office under an election system created to preserve slavery, and an even bigger majority of us rejected them in 2020, too.
I wouldn’t pick Mike Pence, either, but for different reasons. He’s a gutless wonder who only once in his life stood up to Trump’s lies and depradations, and even then first had to get Dan Quayle’s permission to follow the Constitution.
This guy would make a better vice president than Pence. He isn’t a citizen and may not speak English, but he knows right from wrong and has a spine.
But if the biggest takeaway from Trump’s announcement is that he and Mike aren’t friends anymore, I’d argue they never were. Trump doesn’t have any friends. He cares only about himself.
