At his January 6, 2021 rally, Trump told the crowd he’d march to the Capitol with them (watch video below).
He didn’t, and never intended to. His schedule for that day, released by House investigators this week, reveals he planned in advance to return to the White House after the rally, which is what he did that day.
This schedule “indicates Trump deliberately lied to his supporters” and “made a promise he had no intention of honoring,” the Guardian reported on Saturday, March 5, 2022 (read story here).
More evidence that Trump misled the crowd about leading them to the Capitol is the fact he was “told by the Secret Service days before” the January 6 rally that “the situation was too volatile” and they couldn’t “guarantee his security if he joined them,” the Guardian said.
That Trump is a liar, breaks promises, and takes advantage of his supporters isn’t news. He’s long been a known quantity in that respect. But he set a new low by inciting the rallygoers to riot, and then turning his back on them and leaving them twisting in the wind.
