“Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) wants the government to investigate children’s genitals,” Huffington Post reported on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 (story here).
He’s ordered the state child welfare agency to investigate sex change procedures on minors, just one day after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, another rightwing extremist and homophobe, issued a “non-binding legal opinion … that gender-affirming treatments like puberty blockers and hormone therapies constitute child abuse.”
There’s no medical or scientific support for this. Homosexual and transgender tendencies are biological conditions people are born with, not behavior of lifestyle choices. It’s nothing more than politically-motivated hate directed at children, and major medical organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and leading pediatrics groups condemn such efforts as “harmful to children.”
Here’s a question. How, exactly, do Abbott and Paxton plan to investigate kids’ crotches? Will kids have to disrobe for inspection? Do they intend to personally conduct these inspections? And if so, does that make them pedophiles, or merely voyeurs?
