Few people watched; NBC overpaid for the broadcast rights in corrupt bidding, and Nielsen ratings were in the toilet.
Neither the World Genocide Capital setting, nor athlete performances headlined by the biggest on-ice meltdown since Tonya Harding, helped.
As one viewer summed up, the Olympics are “over for me. My lasting impression will be fake snow against a backdrop of 87 nuclear reactors in a country with a despicable human rights record during a pandemic. And kids who can look forward to years of therapy.” Read story here.
I think it’s poetic justice. Given what Xi’s China is — it broke its Hong Kong commitments, is threatening Taiwan, trying to grab the South China Sea, and enslaving the Uyghur people — does anyone want them to succeed? At anything?
The U.S. imposed a diplomatic boycott on the Beijing Olympics for just cause, and they deserved to fall flat on their commie dictator faces. NBC, which had to suck up to them to be there, should’ve stayed away, too.
