The white men who chased down and killed black jogger Ahmaud Arbery are racists. The evidence in their federal hate crime trial leaves no room for doubt.
Travis McMichael (photo, left), who killed Arbery with a shotgun blast, “left a racist digital footprint stretching back to at least 2013,” AOL News says (story here).
He “repeatedly used racist language in text messages with friends, … shared a music video of a white supremacist singer,” and texted a friend he was glad that “zero n—–s work with me.”
“In another instance, McMichael sent a video … to a friend [with] a song titled ‘Alabama N—–‘ by Johnny Rebel, a recording artist whose work explicitly supported white supremacy … over a video of a Black child dancing,” AOL News said. On Facebook, he extolled vigilantism and bragged he kept his shotgun loaded with ammo that would “rip somebody to shreds.”
Roddie Bryan, another of the men, texted to a friend he “was upset that his daughter had started dating a Black man, and in one text message he used a racial epithet to refer to the man.”
All three were previously convicted of murder in state court.
