Ted Cruz and other GOP senators “strongly oppose” putting passengers who knock out flight attendants’ teeth, try to kick down cockpit doors, and/or open exit doors in flight on a government no-fly list, ABC News reported on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 (read story here).
“Sens. Mike Lee of Utah, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott of Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas were among those who signed a letter opposing Delta Airlines’ CEO Ed Bastian’s, request earlier this month that the DOJ create a ‘no-fly’ list for passengers convicted of federal offenses relating to on-board disruptions,” ABC News said.
They say “the majority of recent infractions on airplanes has been in relation to the mask mandate,” and “creating a federal ‘no-fly’ list for unruly passengers who are skeptical of this mandate would” — what? keep them off planes? — “seemingly equate them to terrorists.”
Seems like a small, nearly invisible, distinction to me.
So punch away, if these senators get their way; and if you’re stuck in seat next to them, that’s your tough luck.
I wish this was a joke, spoof, or satire — but it’s not. These senators are real. Their venality affects the entire country. They’re against masks, so they think it’s okay for anti-maskers to act like criminals aboard planes in flight, and are against treating them like criminals even after they’ve been convicted for their in-flight crimes.
This is crazy. More broadly, Republicans are crazy. And what that means is responsible citizens can’t vote for Republicans until someone is able to straighten out the Republican Party.
