Ron DeSantis (R) likes being Florida governor, but would rather be president.
He’s sort of a frontrunner for the 2024 GOP nomination, if Trump for some reason (whatever reason) doesn’t run. So let’s check out how DeSantis views the condition of our society:
Pete Buttigieg: “If an underpass was constructed such that a bus carrying mostly Black and Puerto Rican kids to a beach … in New York was designed too low for it to pass by,” he said at a press conference in November, “that obviously reflects racism that went into those design choices.”
DeSantis: (Slightly paraphrased) “I don’t see how a road can be racist.” (Not paraphrased) “A road’s a road.”
On “socialism”:
DeSantis: “It’s a form of cultural Marxism … anti-Semitic, anti-Israel.”
On “cultural Marxism”:
DeSantis: “It’s infecting a lot of institutions: Big Corporate America, Big Tech, the bureaucracy, [and] of course academia. We’ve got to defeat it.”
Mother Jones: “Ron DeSantis will have trouble defeating wokeness [because] to him, it seems to be nearly everything.”
