Georgia election investigators who looked into “dozens of allegations” that dead people voted in the 2020 election found only 4 actual cases, The Hill reported on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 (read story here).
That’s out of 4,935,487 counted ballots; Biden won the state by 11,779 votes (details here).
Trump claimed there were over 5,000 “dead votes” in Georgia, which wouldn’t have been enough to change the results in any event, but Trump is a pathological liar who has made many outrageously false claims about the election. He also committed election fraud by pressuring Georgia election officials to “find” 11,780 votes for him.
Republicans routinely accuse Democrats of cheating in elections by, among other things, voting for dead people. You can accuse anybody of anything, but that doesn’t make it true. There’s no evidence of that; it’s lying propaganda designed to enrage the GOP base, nothing more.
News reports don’t indicate who those 4 ballots were cast for. All the previous 2020 voting fraud stories I’ve run across involved cheating by Trump supporters.
No one has a right to expect perfect elections. Elections involving millions of votes can’t possibly be perfect, and don’t have to be. Our voting system works extremely well. It does a very good job of weeding out invalid ballots. Study after study has found that voting fraud in American elections is miniscule. Republican election fraud propaganda invariably is baseless, and are just another way of attacking democracy.
