Joe and Jill Biden were taking calls from kids and their parents who dialed a phone line run by NORAD as part of its “Santa Tracker” (here). After a phone operator asks a parent if it’s okay for their kids to speak with the president, the Bidens ask the kids what they want for Christmas and wish them a happy holiday. (Photo below)
Then along comes “Jared,” who told the Bidens about his children. Then, as the call ended, he said, “Let’s go, Brandon.” (Read story here.)
That’s an insult used by Trumpers as a stand-in for “F— Joe Biden.” This is the equivalent of the President of the United States wishing you a “merry Christmas” and your replying “f— you.”
Do that in China, and you’ll soon be working in a Mongolian coal mine. When you do it in America, you’re exercising a constitutional right. No one will come to arrest you. The most that might happen is you’ll be castigated social media as a vulgar boor.
I’m not sure “Jared” fully appreciates what he has here. I get the feeling, though, he’s one of those not eager to keep it.
Follow up (12/26/21): The caller, Jared Schmeck, 35, an ex-cop from Medford, Oregon, posted a You Tube video of the encounter (watch it here). He denies he’s a Trumper, claims he “meant no disrespect” (even though he admits knowing what the phrase means), and describes himself as “free-thinking American and follower of Jesus Christ.” (This is Christian behavior?) A Twitter user responded, “Imagine being a grown man so infantile and disrespectful that you say the slur ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ to the president in front of your own kids and dozens of others. Related story (12/26/21): Schmeck says he’s getting “vague but threatening” phone calls and complains, “And now I am being attacked for utilizing my freedom of speech.” I’m not sure he knows the difference between being criticized and being attack. Criticizing his behavior is within fair bounds; attacking him is not. It wouldn’t surprise me if he is getting threats, because that’s the kind of country we live in now. People shouldn’t call, harass, or threaten him. But as for what people are saying about him, being criticized for utilizing his freedom of speech in an infantile and disrespectful manner is something he should expect and isn’t being “attacked.”

3. Only a trumper can politicize a vaccine.
4. Only a trumper can politicize a pandemic.
5. Only a trumper can create a scene because they don’t want to wear a mask to protect others and prevent spread of the Covid-19 virus.
6. Only a trumper can believe that the “election” was stolen and continue to believe every lie repeated since.
7. Only a trumper can believe that destroying our Nation’s buildings is being patriotic and insurrection is free speech.
8. Only a trumper believes lies when facts prove otherwise.
9. Only a trumper can never admit the truth and tell the truth that they are wrong and sorry for all the lies and harm they have caused our society.
This holiday season, I wish that all trumpers would listen to all facts and listen to all news and search harder for truth instead of the one-sided opinions they hear on “their” media “junk food for the mind” faux news.
I can wish. Can’t I?
