“Daniel ‘D.J.’ Rodriguez, the Donald Trump fanatic who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 and was arrested for electroshocking D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer Mike Fanone …, spilled his guts to the FBI after his arrest, repeatedly crying as he told special agents” what he thought of himself, Huffington Post reported on Sunday, October 17, 2021 (story here).
“Rodriguez, according to a transcript of his FBI interview filed in court by his defense attorney on Friday, said that he became radicalized watching videos on InfoWars and from conservative commentators … that convinced him … that Trump actually won the election,” Huffington Post said. He explicitly said,
“My beliefs are that an overwhelming number of people came out to vote for Trump and he actually did win that election, the popular vote and the electoral vote … I’m thinking they’re going to come, like, you know ― they’re going to come round us up.”
That’s how fantastical some of these people’s thinking actually was, that they would be rounded up because Biden won the election. It’s true they’re now being rounded up, but not for that reason.
But, as he realizes now, and told the FBI agents, “Are we all that stupid that we thought we were going to go do this and save the country and it was all going to be fine after? We really thought that. That’s so stupid, huh?” Yeah, it’s really, really stupid.
What exactly does Rodriguez (photo above) now think of the January 6 insurrection, and his role in it, which is likely to land him in prison inasmuch as he assaulted and injured a police officer? He says, “I’m not smart. I’m so stupid. I’m an asshole. I’m a piece of shit.” That pretty much describes everyone in our prisons (except, of course, for the many who were wrongly convicted by corrupt and unethical prosecutors and cops).
