Vaccine lotteries “failed to convince people to get vaccinated against COVID-19,” a Seattle TV station reported on Friday, October 15, 2021.
“Researchers from several universities [who] studied vaccination records … from 19 states – including Washington – that entered people into a cash drawing once they got the shot … found no significant correlation between the lotteries and vaccination rates,” KOMO News reported (read story here).
What did they expect? That dangling cash prizes would motivate people who weren’t stirred by 600,000-plus deaths? Or get shots in arms of people who wanted them, but didn’t have access to them?
It was a dumb idea, when you think about it. But in a pandemic, with no end in sight, you’ll try anything. At least, some people will.
