Jeffrey Clark (photo, left), a Trump lackey who briefly headed the Attorney General’s civil division around the time of the 2020 election, tried to overthrow our democracy.
That became clear from revelations made public on Saturday, August 7, 2021 (read story here and here).
Clark drafted a letter (read it here) to Georgia’s governor and legislative leaders urging them to convene a special legislative session to remove Biden’s electors, citing voting “irregularities.”
His boss, acting attorney general Jeffrey Rosen, refused to send it. Trump tried to get Rosen to call the election “corrupt” and “leave the rest” to him. Rosen refused to do that, too.
Trump then considered replacing Rosen with Clark, and was deterred only when Rosen threatened a mass resignation of top Justice Department officials that would the scheme. Ultimately, Rosen stayed until Biden took office; Clark resigned a week earlier, and is now under scrutiny.
Rosen told DoJ’s inspector general and the Senate Judiciary Committee the “irregularities” cited by Clark were as follows: The Chinese government used “smart” wall thermometers to access Dominion voting machines through the internet and change vote tallies.
This ridiculous conspiracy theory came straight from QAnon, and calls Clark’s sanity into question.
Rosen also told them Clark engaged in several “unauthorized” conversations with Trump “about using the Justice Department to publicly cast doubt on Biden’s win,” according to Huffington Post.
Investigation of Clark’s activities is ongoing. Wikipedia says (here), “The inspector general could find that Clark crossed the line into criminal behavior and refer the matter to federal prosecutors.” We’ll see.
He tried to violate the fundamental right as citizens of the 2,473,633 Georgians who voted for Biden to choose their government. Every one of those voters is a crime victim. Clark’s sedition calls for real consequences.
Lock him up!
