Suspended from law practice, out of money, and facing federal investigations that could land him in prison, Rudy Giuliani has no friends. At least, not in Mar-o-Lago. Read story here.
It’s a familiar pattern: Trying to be Trump’s friend, and supporting him through thick and thin, gets you nothing.
Giuliani is racking up millions in legal expenses defending himself against potential criminal charges. He’s also being sued for defamation by a voting machine company. So far, his legal defense fund has raised less than $10,000 (details here).
Meanwhile, Trump has raised over $100 million of political cash (see story here). Michael Cohen, who knows Trump as well as anyone, says Giuliani won’t get a nickel of it (story here).
I’m not laughing. Don’t get me wrong, Giuliani is a scumbag, and deserves whatever happens to him. He attacked our democracy by helping to propagate Trump’s election lies. In so doing, he helped stoke the January 6 violence. If he ends up a penniless jailbird, tough luck, he has it coming. But this isn’t funny, nothing involving Trump is.
Giuliani isn’t the first, and won’t be the last, Trump loyalist who gets thrown under the bus. Eventually, they all will be. The moral of the story is don’t try to be Trump’s friend.
