Tony Roman, owner of Basilico’s restaurant in Huntington Beach, California, announced a new policy of refusing service to anyone who’s been vaccinated against Covid-19. He says he’s taking a stand for “freedom.” In his case, that’s a euphemism for habitual lawbreaking. Read the latest story and his history of run-ins with California authorities here.
Meanwhile, if you’re reckless enough to venture into his premises, I don’t know how you’ll prove you’re not vaccinated (flash a blank vaccine card?), and you’ll have unvaccinated and unmasked Delta super-spreaders breathing in your face.
And remember, the Delta variant is more than 1,000x more transmissible than earlier varieties and just as deadly. Unvaccinated people now account for almost all Covid hospitalizations and deaths. If you want to be one of them, hang out in Tony Roman’s joint.
At least he put up a warning sign letting you know his place is a death trap. The county could help, too, by parking a morgue wagon outside.
