Death Valley days in Seattle

Artist’s conception of Seattle 20 years from now

The temperature hit 108 degrees in Seattle, an all-time record, on Monday, June 28, 2021.

On this same day, it was 120 degrees at Furnace Creek, Death Valley, far short of the 135-degree record set there in 1913. (Guess that disproves global warming, huh.)

Anyway, the worst is over, and it will cool down into the 80s now, the forecasters say. They also say we won’t get another heat wave this summer. But don’t get too comfortable. Get prepared. Global warming is here to stay, and it’s going to get worse.

The current heat wave may or may not have anything to do with global warming or at least that caused by carbon dioxide. Climate change is probably the norm, but a week of hot weather doesn’t prove or disprove anything. It would be nice if this is it for the summers heat. We normally have an uncomfortable week in July or August and I would guess we may well have another week to ten days of heat before summer or fall ends. The key really is whether we get any more rain. [This comment has been edited.]

Ocean warming coupled with atmospheric conditions cause heat domes. Ocean warming is caused by global warming. These are pretty straight lines when connecting the dots. See article here.
