Just when you thought airports and planes couldn’t get any worse, they got a lot worse.
It’s extraordinary what people do in airports and in airplane seats.
Well, not really. Our inner barbarian is always there; the cabin fever induced by the Covid-19 pandemic merely brings more of it to the surface.
And it’s all caught on video. Nowadays, everybody has a cellphone camera, and boy they use it! You can find some of these videos on YouTube, but a former flight attendant/police officer/paramedic (who wishes to remain anonymous for the same reasons I do) has helpfully aggregated the complaints and evidence against Passengers From Hell in one place: @passenger shaming, which offers nonstop voyeur entertainment to those of us with the good sense to do our flying virtually from a computer chair or in bed.
I say “former” because outing bad flying behavior is so popular (1.3 million followers so far, and growing rapidly) that Ms. Anonymous now makes a full-time living from exposing airborne misconduct. She gets about 300 complaints a week and says “99 percent are from passengers, because they don’t want to sit next to these people.” Duh.
Read the story here, or skip the story and go directly to @passenger shaming here. This is the first time I’ve heard about @passenger shaming, but I can see right now this is going to be a problem time-wise. If I stop posting on this blog, you’ll probably be able to guess what I’m doing instead.
