Malcolm X was a prominent black activist of the 1960s, hero to some, villain to others. (Read bio here.) He was assassinated on February 21, 1965 — 56 years ago today — at age 39, the same age at which Martin Luther King Jr. died.
Three Nation of Islam members were convicted of his murder, but questions about their guilt and suspicions of police involvement have existed for decades.
The murder is still an active case, and will be “reinvestigated” after a Netflix series aired last year (see video here).
