“Europeans got more of their electricity from renewable sources than fossil fuels for the first time last year,” CNN reported on Sunday, January 24, 2021, adding, “The shift comes as other sources, such as wind and solar power, have … nearly doubled since 2015.” That’s still not the case here, but renewable energy overtook coal-generated power in the U.S. last year.
Europe intends to phase out not only coal, but also natural gas, which would improve European security because it depends on Russia for most of the gas it consumes.
