“A Republican congresswoman who supports QAnon had her account locked by Twitter this week after she live-tweeted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s location during last week’s deadly Capitol Hill insurrection,” Crooks and Liars reported on Thursday, January 14, 2021 .
“Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) revealed on Instagram that Twitter had prevented her from posting until Inauguration Day on Jan. 20,” C & L said, although Twitter apparently has already unlocked her.
“Twitter users called for Boebert to be jailed last week after she used the platform to disclose details of Pelosi’s security while a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol. … Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) suggested that Boebert had committed a crime. ‘Like any citizen who has committed a crime, Lauren Boebert has the right to remain silent,’ Swalwell tweeted. ‘I suggest that she use it.'”

Boebert, who was elected in November, had been a member of Congress for all of 3 days when she engaged in conduct that could reasonably be interpreted as aiding and abetting would-be killers of the Speaker of the House. While they wait for prosecutors to figure out what to do with her, the House Democrats have the authority and votes to expel her from Congress. They should do it. Now. Without waiting for criminal charges.
What specific statute do these people think she violated. Pelosi location was somewhere in Washington DC, most likely somewhere in the capital building. Her security is paid for by the US tax payer so how many Secret Service agents or Capital police she has is public record. As it is Pelosi had a role in the Capital police not receiving other support from the Guard or others during the riot. At least she is not boring. Could be a heck of a poker party if she sits down to play with AOC.
The House can expel a member for violating House rules. Prosecutors would be required to cite the specific laws they allege she violated if she is criminally charged.
