Two Seattle police officers are on administrative leave pending investigation of their participation in the violent attempt to overthrow the U.S. government in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, ABC News (story here) and other media sources reported.
Seattle’s police chief said the officers will be “immediately terminated” if they “were directly involved in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol,” in which a Capitol Police officer was murdered by rioters trying to prevent the ceremonial counting of electoral votes.
As I wrote previously here, Washington is one of the states where extremists have infiltrated police ranks. However, the Seattle Police Department did not identify the officers, so there’s no way to determine whether they have affiliations with, or sympathies for, extremist groups.
