“Trump has told some advisers that he will refuse to leave the White House on Inauguration Day,” CNN reported on Thursday, December 17, 2020, adding, “The possibility has alarmed some aides, but few believe Trump will actually follow through.” Read story here.
Following this the New York Intelligencer, citing the CNN story, speculated on whether Trump is (a) “a sociopathic liar (he is, after all, using his “election fraud” b.s. to grift his supporters), or (b) “delusional,” or (c) “both,” but does it even matter? He’s leaving, so who cares what permutation of mental silliness drives his childishness at this point?
This is probably grandstanding. He does a lot of that. But if he doesn’t leave, at 12:01 p.m. on January 20th, he’ll become a trespasser in a secure federal facility. That isn’t a misdemeanor citation. It gets you forcibly taken down by federal agents, held without bail in many cases, and ultimately sent to another, different, secure federal facility.
So, go ahead, Donald, overstay your welcome and see what happens. I double-dog dare you.
The Secret Service could lure him out of the White House. Tie a string to a couple of cheeseburgers and he would follow the burgers on out the doors. Woof!
