The other oval office

In 1938, Ambassador Joseph P. Kennedy built an oval office in the U.S. embassy at 1 Grosvenor Square, London.

He hoped to inspire his oldest son, Joseph Jr., to go into politics. But young Joe was killed in the war, and it was his younger brother Jack who made his way to the oval office in Washington D.C.

Now in private hands, the building is being remodeled into residences, and an undisclosed buyer just paid $181 million for the top two floors, including the refurbished oval office (photo below).

Of course I don’t know who the buyer is. But if I had to guess who has a big enough ego to want his own oval office to pontificate from, I’d say Elon Musk. Now I know what you’re thinking, but no. For several reasons: He still thinks he already has one, doesn’t have $181 million, England has an extradition treaty with the U.S., and people there would recognize him. He needs something more like the setup at right.
