If Democrats fall short of a Senate majority in 2020, they might get it in 2022.
Every 2 years, a third of the Senators are up for election (or re-election). In 2022, that’s 34 seats.
Here’s the breakdown: 12 are Democrats in blue states; and of the 22 Republicans, 2 are retiring, and 5 are in states Biden either won or are still undecided.
So Democrats are unlikely to lose a Senate seat in 2022 (they lost 1 in 2020), while several Republicans might be vulnerable.
