A Waukegan, Illinois, cop who killed a 19-year-old black man and wounded his girlfriend was fired “for multiple policy and procedure violations” on Friday, October 23, 2020, ABC News reported. Read story here. The officer hasn’t been identified.
The man was a passenger, and the woman the driver, of a parked car approached by a police officer around midnight. Police claim the vehicle fled and was pulled over by another cop, who exited his squad car and opened fire when the vehicle began moving in reverse toward him.
State police and the Department of Justice are investigating the incident, and an attorney representing the woman and her family said they will conduct their own investigation because they don’t trust the police.
