A Pittsburgh mail carrier who, instead of delivering mail, put it out for trash collection is facing criminal charges. He’s also out of a job.
The “trash” included 314 first-class letters, 1311 pieces of political and campaign mail, and 1 request for a mail ballot. No ballots were found in the 9 trash bags full of mail. It was recovered and delivered.
A Pittsburgh newspaper investigating the mailman’s social media activity found his Facebook and Twitter accounts were full of QAnon conspiracy-theory messages and rants against Covid-19 lockdowns. QAnon promotes a false conspiracy theory about child sex trafficking. Its following includes many Trump supporters.
Postal authorities didn’t say what the man’s motive was, but when mail carriers throw away mail — an extremely rare occurrence — it’s usually to get out of the work of delivering it. Read story here and here.
Photo: These trash bags outside the mail carrier’s home aren’t the ones mentioned in the story but may contain mail. This photo was taken on an earlier occasion by a neighbor who suspected the man of throwing away mail he was supposed to deliver.
He can retire to his basement and waste his day in his alternate reality with his QAnon folks conjuring up more theories, for him it beats working.
Alex Jones, should hire him.
