“A group of top aides for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is asking federal law enforcement to investigate their boss,” KHOU- 11 TV, the CBS affiliate in Houston, reported on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
A letter to federal law enforcers signed by several high-ranking managers in Paxton’s agency, including his top assistant and deputies overseeing major divisions such as criminal investigations and litigation, states, “We have a good faith belief that the Attorney General is violating federal and/or state law, including prohibitions relating to improper influence, abuse of office, bribery and other potential criminal offenses,” the Oct. 1 letter states.
Paxton, a Republican, has already been indicted for securities fraud (see story here).
