Black-owned Seattle coffee shop attacked with bricks and molotovs

Black Coffee Northwest planned to open a coffee shop in a Seattle suburb that would become a community hub and offer internships, a barista job training program, after-school outreach, and a conversation series about current events.

But an arsonist changed their plans. Bricks were thrown at windows and molotov cocktails at the building in the early hours of Wednesday, September 30, 2020. The attacker(s) also tried to breach the building’s gas line.

The owners believe the attack was racially motivated. The coffee shop is run by teenagers who openly support Black Lives Matter. Police have no suspects yet and are reviewing surveillance video.
