Trump demands different Democratic candidate
Following Tuesday’s chaotic debate, Trump declared he won’t accept any format changes in the remaining debates, such as cutting off his mic when he overtalks Biden, poaches Biden’s speaking time, engages in name-calling, and urges armed white supremacist militias to “stand by.”
Trump also accused Biden of “working the refs,” and demanded that Biden be replaced, i.e. ejected from the game by the umpires.
CNBC reported that Trump’s spokeswoman, Kayleigh McEnany, a twit with a Harvard Law degree, said, “With regard to the commission rule changes, the president made clear his view on that yesterday, that he thinks the only way there’s a fair debate is a change in the moderator and a change in the Democrat nominee.”
At this point, nobody should give a damn what Trump thinks is “fair.” His use of the word is opposite of what it means.
Some Democrats have urged Biden to walk away from the remaining debates, but I think that would be a mistake. When he becomes president, he’ll have to face off with the likes of Russia’s Putin, China’s Xi, and North Korea’s Kim. Compared to them, Trump is child’s play (because, obviously, he’s a child), and people will hesitate to believe Biden can face our adversaries if he doesn’t face Trump.
Notice I said “face” not “handle.” Nobody can handle Trump, not even his own handlers. Like his ex-campaign manager, Brad Parscale, who’s now incarcerated in a nut ward, Trump is incorrigible and uncontrollable. Putin, Xi, and Kim are incorrigible, too, but our military deterrent makes them controllable. You can’t deter Trump. Call animal control.

Actually the Presidential Debate Committee has to consider what Trump, Biden, the Republican and Democratic parties think is fair. Changing the rules has to be agreed to. Why not bring candidates from third parties up on stage. Not that either major party would agree to iy, but this is a major problem with the current debates. Though their importance is really overblown. Without third parties with candidates Americans and policies are unfamiliar with it allows both major parties to game the system.
The Lincoln I think the first debate did have a good thing as both candidates ended up telling the truth on some things, got away from talking points, and maybe Wallace should have let things go and allow the candidates to debate.
The Lincoln Douglas debates were a very different format. 3 hours long, no moderator. One candidate spoke for 60 minutes the other 90 and the first got 30 minutes to respond.
Turning off Trump’s mic when he behaves like that is fair and they don’t need his permission to do that.
