Biden leads Trump 3.7-to-1 among mail-in voters
According to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll conducted last week, “mail-in voters back Biden 74 per cent to 20 per cent for Trump.” The poll was released on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Read story here.
Other findings in the poll, which occurred before Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg death and the looming Supreme Court battle exploded into the news:
- 90% have decided and 70% won’t be influenced by the debates
- Biden’s 9-point lead hasn’t changed over the last month
- Biden leads 90%-5% among black voters
- Biden leads 60%-31% among young voters
- Biden leads 57%-37% among women voters
- Biden leads 54%-41% among white college educated voters
- Biden leads 45%-39% among independents
- Biden leads 50%-46% among seniors
Undecided voters, which NBC News describes as “up-for-grabs voters,” are mostly those who view both candidates negatively. This group slightly leans toward Trump, but he would have to win essentially all of them to have a shot at winning the popular vote. (Read story here.)
With most voters already choosing sides, the coming fight over filling Justice Ginsburg’s seat is more likely to affect turnout than voter choices. It’ll most likely galvanize turnout on both sides. (Read story here.) It’s already triggering a surge in Democratic fundraising, who pulled in $91 million in the first 28 hours after her death was announced. (Read story here.) Fundraising is important because ad presence impacts both turnout and undecided voters.

Depends on if these polls are measuring a political preference or whether Democrats prefer mailing in a ballot early, and Republicans preferring to go to a polling place or dropping their ballot in a ballot box. Or whether the more affluent with cars go drop at drop boxes and those more dependent on public transportation drop theirs in a mail box.
Now the ballots mailed in should not be counted in any way until the polls are closed.
You don’t want ballots counted before election day and Trump doesn’t want them counted after election day. (https://tinyurl.com/yysl2n8l) That would disenfranchise the two-thirds of Americans voting by mail in this election. If you don’t want to live in a democracy, ask Russia for asylum, instead of trying to turn America into another Russia.
