“Coronavirus cases in the Dakotas,” where Republican governors have resisted enforcing health rules and many people disdain masks and social distancing, “are growing faster than anywhere else in the nation,” ABC News reported on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Read story here. Can’t imagine why.
So maybe the Dakotas should be left alone as a control to compare results to. Science requires such an approach.
In both states the total number of confirmed cases in both states are at under 20,000 and the number of deaths are under 200. The demographics of each state may inflate the per million a bit. Neither states hospitals are overrun, and both would really like young people from say Washington state to move there. Burrr in the winter.
Interesting idea, and Dakotans seem very willing to be guinea pigs, but it’s hard to make that work when 250,000 people congregate in a town of 7,000 population and then spread out in all directions afterwards.
