“A … cancer survivor who reached out to U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis for help with her health insurance dilemma said … she got an insensitive response from a staffer,” WRAL-TV in North Carolina reported on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.
Constituent: “You’re saying that, if you can’t afford it, you don’t get to have it, and that includes health care?”
Staffer: “Yeah, just like if I want to go to the store and buy a new dress shirt. If I can’t afford that dress shirt, I don’t get to get it.”
A spokesperson for Sen. Tillis later told the TV station the staffer has been “disciplined,” without specifying what action was taken. Read story here.

Perhaps she would have preferred a blunt this office cannot help you with your problem. Which of course no politician wants to say to any voter, especially when it is the truth.
