Both Snopes and Politifact call that rumor “false”
Internet rumors that Jacob Blake raped a [ ] 14- [ ] 16-year-old girl (draw “x” in one) are false, both Snopes and Politifact have concluded. Snopes added that a screenshot of criminal charges against Blake was doctored. Snopes explained,
“Whoever created the widely shared graphic … took a screenshot of an authentic list of charges against Blake … but juxtaposed it with an excerpt from the laws of a different state, in order to give readers the entirely false impression that Blake had been accused of committing an act of sexual penetration against a child. He had not. Claims that Blake was a ‘child rapist’ and had ‘raped a child’ were … baseless.”
Blake was charged on July 7, 2020, and an arrest warrant was issued, for a May 3, 2020, incident of sexual assault and domestic abuse involving his girlfriend, who is the mother of 3 of his 6 children, apparently the 3 kids who were in the car when he was shot by a police officer.
He is, of course, presumed innocent of those charges until found guilty in a court of law. But it does appear the police had cause to arrest him, and in the video, it looks like he wasn’t complying.
Blake had no other court records, other than child support, and a fine for driving without a license in his possession in 2018. Charges against him for pulling a gun in a bar in 2015 were dropped by the prosecutor.
