Thug snuffs life of cancer researcher and classical singer

Sarmistha Sen, 43, came to the U.S. from India, was educated at the Universities of Texas and Alabama in molecular biology and pharmacy, and was a clinical researcher at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, working with cancer patients.

She was also “a trained singer of Indian classical music” who “loved to teach and perform music.”

She was murdered while jogging on Aug. 1, 2020. Her body was dragged to a creek bed. So much human grief and loss. So much hard work, education and knowledge, know-how, art and culture, and contribution to human well-being gone.

Bakari Abiona Moncrief, 29, arrested that day for a burglary in the immediate vicinity of the crime, is now charged with the murder. Police say DNA linked him to Sen’s murder. He’s in jail in lieu of $10 million bond. It’s unknown whether he has a prior criminal record, but news reports indicate he may have mental health issues.

It ain’t fair. Read the story, if you can stomach it, here and here.

A knife or derringer and knowledge of how to use them effectively and she might still be here. Tigers exist in Dallas. Only they run about on two legs, and even law enforcement can fall prey.

How about an A-bomb? A little heavy to lug around, you’d need a stroller, but it would get all the tigers, not just the one pouncing on you.
