Rayshard Brooks was shot twice in the back Friday night, and on Sunday the Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney said the police officer who shot him, who was fired Saturday, likely will be charged with murder. Read story here.
The killing of Brooks drew an angry crowd to the Wendy’s restaurant where he was killed. The restaurant was set on fire, but no other buildings in the vicinity were trashed or looted.
Video showed Brooks, who had been sleeping in a car, wrestled free when officers tried to handcuff him. He grabbed an officer’s taser, sprinted a short distance away, and was shot. He later died at a hospital.
