BELIEVE IT OR NOT .. NORWAY HAS FOLKS WITH MEGA WEALTH
In a world with really welathy folks, Paul Allen and his 100 meter long Octopussy is a mere tender to really great yachts. Now the Emirates’ sheik owned Azzam’s six-year reign as the world’s largest superyacht is coming to an end. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates 590-foot boat will soon be displayed at the top of that very exclusive list by a just-launched 600-foot expedition yacht from Norway. We all know that Norway taxes its wealthy into poverty but I guess not so much. They do spend their money in different ways than American playboys… Now an uber-wealthy Norwegian has built a superyacht TWICE the size of Paul Allen’s superyacht!
Combining lux entertaining with a supposed research vessel, the REV OCEAN is the flagship of Norwegian billionaire businessman Kjell Inge Røkke. In an interview with the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten (published 1 May 2017) Røkke said he planned to give away most of his fortune. As a further step in this plan he joined the Giving Pledge in 2017, and founded the REV Ocean initiative. Led by former WWF Norway CEO Nina Jensen, REV Ocean is working to improve understanding of the ocean and foster concrete solutions through three initiatives: the world’s largest research and expedition vessel (REV), the World Ocean Headquarters and an open, global data platform.
