President Trump claimed in a recent interview that he always tries to be truthful. When asked by Jon Karl of ABC News about his 2016 campaign promise that “I will never lie to you,” Trump replied, “Well I try. I mean, I do try. … I always want to tell the truth.” (Read story here.) Which raises this question: Is Trump lying about wanting to tell the truth, or is this prolific liar so steeped in falsehoods that he actually believes his own lies?
