John McCain … shot down in Viet Nam, Imprisoned in a Hellhole of a POW camp, survivor of malignant melanoma, now has the most aggressive form of brain cancer, glioblastoma.
This is McCain’s final chance to show his courage. A good place to start would be to vote against all forms of Trumpcare until the GOP gets together with the Democrats.
McCain has had recent public lapses of memory, suggestive of brain injury. Doctors discovered the clot during a routine physical exam last week at an exam scheduled every four months for skin checks due to likelihood of recurrent melanoma.
He arrived at his early morning appointment, Friday before 8 a.m. and as per usual, looked good, according to a doctor who has been involved in his care for nearly a decade. McCain, described as not being a complainer, did report feeling fatigued, which he attributed to a rigorous travel schedule.
McCain’s foggy behavior and intermittent double vision prompted a CT scan and then an MRI.
“It’s a very aggressive tumor,” said Sanjay Gupta of CNN. He explained that average survival for malignant glioblastoma tends to be around 14 months with treatment. In McCain’s case, additional therapy, including radiation, could not begin until the incision heals, which would be in the next three or four weeks.
I have lost many admired friends to this tumor. While I hope for the best for Senator, McCain, he is now free of any political issue. He should use this horrid tumor as a signal for political courage. McCain could and should call out Trump and call on the GOP to stand up against Trump’s thuggery of an administration.
