President Donald Trump’s attorneys say his tax returns don’t show “any income of any type from Russian sources” — “with a few exceptions.” No comment is made on how much money Trump has received as loans, a subject that is raised by repeated comments by Trump’ sons bragging how much investment comes from Moscow.
That’s according to a letter from Trump’s tax lawyers at Morgan Lewis. The message is dated March 8, but it was released to the public Friday. As a realtor, much of Trump’s cash is likely to come from loans supported by his property. Interest on those loans would be stated in Trump’s returns but would not count as “income.”
