Following the scandal around departure of Michael T. Flynn, as national security adviser. President Trump plans to assign a friend, Stephen A. Feinberg, co-founder of Cerberus Capital Management, as an over czar to investigate the American intelligence community as a whole.
Feinberg has no expertise in Intelligence and any new czar would seem to replace the National Security Agency. Professionals in the intelligence community fear this would curtail their independence and reduce the flow of information that contradicts the president’s worldview.
Meanwhile, retired Vice Admiral Robert Harward, has turned down the offerto take on Flynn’s job. Reports in the media say that Harward turned down the job in part because he wanted to bring in his own team and Trump, who had insisted that Flynn’s deputy, K.T. McFarland, that she could stay.
