After signaling Wednesday morning he’ll reopen CIA black prisons, der Fuhrer Trumpen said Wednesday afternoon he’s “asked intelligence officials about the use of enhanced interrogation techniques on terror suspects” and alleges they told him torture “works.”
“I have spoken as recently as 24 hours ago with people at the highest level of intelligence and I asked them the question: Does it work? Does torture work?” Mr. Trump told ABC News in an interview scheduled to air Wednesday evening. “And the answer was yes, absolutely.”
Now the only question is who’ll get racked first. My guess is that after testing it on the journalists who reported his inauguration crowds were smaller than Obama’s, he’ll clean out the heretics and witches, then go from there. Read the story here.
This isn’t new. Trump asserted last spring, during the primaries, that “torture works.” See, e.g., this report. And lest you assume this is a case of “fixing the facts to the policy,” that’s not true at all! As president, he can keep replacing intelligence officials for as long as it takes, until he can truthfully state that intelligence officials told him “torture works.” It’s simply a matter of finding two intelligence officials who will say that.
