FACEBOOK DIALOG: Fracking

Chiho FoxChiho Fox
Our strongest weapon against Russia is not diplomacy or our military or even our intelligence community; it’s fracking. 43% (!) of Russia’s federal revenue comes from one source; the sale of natural gas. And if Trump sticks with his plan of unleashing the $50 Trillion worth of natural gas we have and flood the market with supply and drive prices down, we would quite literally destroy their economy. Russian fracking technology is not where ours is, we can produce more of it cheaper, at higher quality, and make more money off of it in the process. I’m still betting that this is a classic case of unleashing something you can’t control.
Chiho Fox The natural gas renaissance is a huge part of our future.
Thomas Sergneri But it’s fracking. I read that it’s evil.
Chiho Fox Haha right? Drives me crazy when people were saying how Hillary was horrible because she wasn’t 100% wanting to “ban” fracking. Smh…
Chiho Fox Listen, fracking, it’s incredible. I know all the best fracking, no one fracks better than me, it’s amazing.

Stephen Schwartz The problem here is the need for LONG TERM strategy. While it true we may be able to bankrupt Russia, there are two other results:

1. Bankruptcy for Saudi Arabia followed by unguessable consequences. Related issues affect Nigeria and Venezuela.

2, Estimates I have read say we will run out of the frackable resources within 2 or 3 decades.

Donald Paul Vincent I have to wonder IF we actually want to bankrupt Russia.
Chiho Fox I don’t think it’ll be the intention, it might just be a side effect
Donald Paul Vincent Something we should be careful of. What happens when bankrupt generals and low level military officers start selling of military weapons to try and make a bit extra money.
John Donoso That is a minor concern compared to the alternatives…
Will Affleck-Asch Actually, it’s the decreased demand for all fossil fuels, as the West and a few other states destroy industrial commercial and residential demand for them, with our far cheaper renewable solar and wind resources the Russians can’t do anything to stop

Chiho Fox Like this one?

“I think more and more people looking at the gas market realize it’s going to be a challenge to meet demand even with record supply,” said Phil Flynn, senior market analyst at The Price Futures Group. “We’ve been living off the fumes of past production and that’s starting to fall off a bit.”
The EIA anticipates that demand is expected to rise in the foreseeable future, since 2010 the demand for natural gas globally and domestically has exploded and has increased year over year. Renewables will be the future of energy, but in the immediate and mid term; natural gas is key.http://www.wsj.com/…/natural-gas-prices-rise-on-colder…
