Monday night THE-Ave.US and the Hotel-Hotel bar are going to have Joe Pakootas , candidate for Congress in Eastern Washington, as a local commentator for the first 2016 Presidential campaign debate.
Joe is an outstanding candidate running against Kathy McMorris Rogers in the 5th CD of Washington State. This will give Joe a chance to introduce himself to people here in Seattle and give us all the chance to discuss the inevitable food fight when the Donald meets Mrs. Clinton. I have asked Joe to moderate during the breaks between the 15 minute debate segments and then to briefly introduce himself just after the debate by commenting on what we all will have seen.
TRUMP DEBATE CHALLENGE: KEEPING HIS COOL IF CLINTON ATTACKS WASHINGTON (AP) – Donald Trump’s advisers are urging him to keep his cool during next week’s presidential debate and resist attempts by Hillary Clinton to provoke him with questions about his business record, wealth or controversial comments about minorities. The focus underscores the campaign’s concern that too many Americans still don’t believe the Republican has the temperament to be president, which could be a difference-maker in a close race with Clinton. “He can’t let Hillary get under his skin,” said Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker and Trump adviser. Gingrich is part of a rotating cast of politicians and policy experts traveling with Trump on his private plane for mid-flight debate preparations, according to Republicans familiar with the preparations.
The Hotel-Hotel site is a great place to watch the debate. There is a huge projection screen TV as well as smaller flat screens around the room. The brick oven pizza is great as are the 12 on-tap local beers. For the more elite, the bar also offers cocktails. Ice cream can be bought in for the next door creamery and placed on pie from the next door pie shop to make a la mode if you want to mix you passions for cold stuff during what is certain to be a heated debate!
If you do not know Joe, he is outstanding, a true fulfillment of the American dream … Northwest style. Born into the Colville nation on a dirt poor reservation, Joe never went to college. He was, however, lucky because the UW brought him to Seattle where Joe, with no college degree, earned an MBA. He took that degree back home, became head of the Colville nation and led the businesses owned by the tribe out of bankruptcy into profit.
