Anniversary of Genocide in Namibia
When I cited this report in my book in 2008, I was
Two thoughts. First, I doubt very much that you were “confronted by Zionists who said it was an affront to claim that the massacre of the Namibians was a holocaust. ” Moreover, by highlighting your own anti antisemitism you diminish the reality of the horror done by Christians in Namibia. Second, the reraloity of Namibia is that it was ionly one part of the era of “white man’s burden” .. an era where Christians believed their religions and its civilization justified rule over lesser huymans .. the invention of race.
If I may suggest, the morei mprtnat story here is how similar the behavior of the Germans were to the later behavior toward the Jews. once a people accepts racism as real .. the idea that some humans are less than human .. this is what follows.
confronted by Zionists who said it was an affront to claim that the massacre of the Namibians was a holocaust.
It was a holocaust, perhaps 10th in place after the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. The Jewish holocaust as horrendous as it was, won’t compare to the holocaust of the Congo by King Leopold. Yet when you mention the word HOLOCAUST, everyone gravitates towards the Jewish Holocaust not knowing the Germans first practiced their brutality on the Africans before finessing it on Jews.
Up to 100,000 Herero people and around 10,000 Nama people died in a systematic extermination by German troops in modern-day Namibia from 1904 to 1908.
