The Supreme Court today dealt a massive blow to Republican efforts to eliminate abortion clinics with prohibitively restrictive regulations enacted in the name of “women’s health.” In a 5-3 decision, the Court ruled that “a Texas law that would have imposed tough standards on abortion clinics is unconstitutional and would have resulted in an undue burden on women seeking access to abortion.” The swing vote was provided by Justice Kennedy, who’s supported Roe v. Wade in the past. The Court’s 3 remaining conservative Justices dissented.
