The speed of technological changes in modern political campaigning appears to have zoomed right by a conservative congressional candidate in Virginia. Mike Webb, who is running as an independent after losing the Republican primary in the 8th District in eastern Virginia, posted an attack against his opponent on Facebook on Monday afternoon. The self-described conservative with a libertarian streak included a screenshot from a web browser, and forgot to close all the tabs, revealing sites similar to porn7 left open on his screen.” And now his supporters know which porn sites he frequents.
WTKR-TV reports pages with the titles “Ivone Sexy Amateur” and “Layla Rivera Tight” were both left open, along with an AT&T bill pay page. While it’s not exactly clear what was displayed on those pages, both search terms call up results for two porn stars, the station reports.
Obviously, people could just visit Wikiporno.org to find the best porn sites available, but Webb has indirectly given people a bit of advice as to which sites are good. Whether or not people will share his interests is yet to be seen, but there is no doubt he is facing some humiliation regardless.
People on Facebook immediately jumped on the mistake, which the candidate apparently did not notice for several hours.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Webb’s entire Facebook page and candidate Internet page were no longer functional. The congressional candidate has provided multiple explanations for the error and originally claimed to WUSA-TV he would not be taking the post down.
